Code of Ethics
for video Q&A gatherings
Ken Kaisch, Ph.D., a retired priest and clinical psychologist, hosts live question-and-answer sessions on the spiritual life, across traditions, doubts, and experience. Participants attend with camera and microphone off and ask in writing. This circle works only if everyone holds it with care. By joining a gathering, you agree to the following.
How We Show Up
- Presence is voluntary. You may listen without ever asking a question and leave at any time without explanation. Quiet attendance is full participation.
- Cameras and microphones stay off. The host controls them. You are known only by the name you display, and you may join under a first name or initials.
- What is shared here stays here. No participant records, screenshots, transcribes, or shares any part of a gathering, including through AI note-taking tools. No one's question is repeated elsewhere without that person's consent. The host does not record.
- We come from many paths, and none. We ask from our own experience; we do not correct, rank, or seek to convert one another.
How We Ask
- Questions go to the host, in writing. Use the Q&A box only. The chat is not for side conversations, replies, or debate.
- Ask from your own path. Speak in your own name (“I wonder,” “in my experience”) and leave out details that could identify anyone else.
- Send only what you would be comfortable hearing read aloud. The host reads questions without your name unless you ask to be named. You may submit anonymously.
- The host chooses. Time is limited. The host may select, combine, shorten, or decline any question without explanation. An unanswered question is not a judgment on the person who asked.
How the Host Answers
- From experience and study, not as final authority over your spiritual life. Take what helps; leave what doesn't.
- The question, never the questioner. No one is diagnosed, analyzed, or singled out for what they asked.
- Your questions are handled with care. A question may inform future teaching or newsletters only with your name and identifying details removed.
How We Protect the Space
- Disagreement is welcome; contempt is not. We challenge ideas, never the character, intelligence, or motives of a person or group. Questions that ridicule, discriminate, or threaten will not be read and end a person's welcome. The host may remove any participant, or pause or close a gathering, to protect it.
- This is dialogue, not treatment. The host is a retired clinical psychologist and no longer practices. These gatherings are for spiritual exploration and teaching only, not therapy, diagnosis, or crisis care, and joining one creates no clinical relationship. Please do not send questions seeking personal psychological or medical advice.
If you are in distress, please contact a licensed professional. Because the host cannot see or hear you, he cannot tell if you are struggling. In the U.S., call or text 988; elsewhere, contact your local emergency services.
